Analyzing my Audience

My audience for my review is a pretty broad audience. It is most likely males and females from the ages of 17 and above. Really it is anyone who eats out. My audience also most likely lives in a urban area. A place where new restaurants can pop up at any moment. My audience is interested in good food, which is why they would read these reviews. They want to make sure that they are going to get good food for their money. My audience does not like wasting their money, but they are up for new experiences. My audience really does not stick to the norm or else they would never try new places. My audience believes in small local businesses because these are where they go for their feasting. Their friends are outgoing people. They know that my audience likes new places and will often tell them about a new restaurant that just opened up or a great place they ate during one of their trips they were recently on. My audience needs to know about new restaurants that open up. If not they might stick to a couple of places and not realize what else is out in the world. My audience frequently reads the newspaper trying to find that new restaurant or café. My audience might also subscribe to a food magazine that lists reviews of new restaurants in their area as well as the rest of the nation. My audience believes that there is always something new to try, as long as other people have tried it first. They don’t really believe in second chances and figure that if you can’t do it the first time…why do it? My audience knows that they are hungry and they are ready to find that perfect place to eat. But once they find a really great place, another place seems like it might be better. This cycle will go on and on until they have a handful of places that they can use as their staples. These are the places that they can always go do get a really great meal every time they go. But of course they will always try the new café on the corner.

For my review, I will be reviewing a restaurant at UCF.

Thesis Paragraph

There is 5 minutes left in class and all you can hear is the ruffling of papers, the zippers of backpacks and the screeching of the tables being folded back into the chairs. Yet, there is still material to be learned. The professor still has things to relay to the class. You sit there trying to understand what the professor is saying and all you can hear is this noise. Some people find this to be very annoying, but others say that nothing important is taught within the last 5 minutes of class and it is a waste of time. Should you stay or should you go? This is a very pressing question in college classrooms and lecture halls across the nation.

The trend is that men are increasingly getting into the wedding planning process.

Yes, it gives an example of the man putting a lot of focus on him self and his groomsmen.

Yes, the author goes into a great deal of depth by talking about how the bachelor parties now include spa treatments. The intended target is anyone who is planning on getting married.

Gender roles are now being equalized so it is now the norm to get married.

There are no examples from the authors personal life.

I don't bellieve they have a stance, they just talk about the situation.

Weddings are now about how grand it can be and not what marriage actually means.

1. Are you aware of people packing up with 5 minutes left in class?
Yes, everyone seems to be waiting for the next class.

2. Do you think the things the professors are teaching in the last 5 minutes of class are as important at the rest of the class?
Not really, I think that it is more of a wrap up of the entire class instead of new material.

3. Do you think the professors acknowledge it enough?
I think that they think the students are the ones missing out in class and not the professors.

4. Do you think that the students that do not pack up and continue taking notes have better grades?
Yes, of course. You get more information and the people who stay for the entire class are more likely to be paying attention during the class.

No, I always wait for the end of class.

I've been in class and seen people pack up and leave early.

Why Students Leave Class Early

It gives me a sense of awkwardness. The class ends at 2:20 but yet at 2:15 people are already packed and ready to go. I am still trying to take notes while all I hear is the sound of notebooks closing and the backpacks zipping up. At times I feel bad for the professors, they rarely know what to do other than continue with the class. Sometimes they are bold and will yell out a reminder that class is not over for another 5 minutes. This whole process that happens in a matter of minutes reminds me of somebody leaving before a dinner is over. As anyone would say this act would be considered rude. But this happens everyday on our campus and I am assuming around campuses across the nation. Shouldn't this be considered rude? Is this teaching students that they can leave a place whenever they want without thinking about the person that is hosting? The professors put a lot of their time into these notes and lectures and they deserve some respect.

3 Phenomena

The first phenomena that I have noticed is that in the large lecture halls, about 75 percent of the students start to pack up when there is about 5 minutes left. Technically those last 5 minutes are still the professors time.

The second phenomena that I have noticed is the reaction of students at the football game when we get scored on. Most students will give up on their team and yell derogatory words at the team. And even when we do score, we will say it is lucky. Where is the faith in the football team?

The third and final phenomena that I have noticed on campus is that there are not a lot of cigarette smokers. This surprised me a lot. I always thought that a lot of college students pick up smoking as a way to relieve stress. But I have not noticed a lot of it.
